Trump: Diverter in Chief...#Neveragain

Trump gives thumbs up with first responders following Parkland massacre.

President Trump went crazy on Twitter this weekend and in one of his asinine comments blamed the FBI's work on the Russia investigation with causing it to miss warnings that the Parkland shooter was planning a school massacre.

"Very sad that the FBI missed all of the many signals sent out by the Florida school shooter. This is not acceptable," Trump said in a Tweet shortly after 11 p.m. last night. "They are spending too much time trying to prove Russian collusion with the Trump campaign - there is no collusion. Get back to the basics and make us all proud!" the president wrote.

That is one of the slimiest attempts at political diversion I've ever witnessed, and I've been around politics for five decades.

How dare he use this tragedy as part of his Russia propaganda defense? Does he not care that 17 lives, 16 of them students, were mowed down by a disturbed former student with an AR 15? That was even slimier than the thumbs up photo he had taken at the Parkland hospital with first responders who helped save lives at the school. That photo, above, is now being used as Trump's new Twitter banner.

Certainly, Trump doesn't like the fact that Special Counsel Robert Mueller on Friday indicted a bunch of Russians, laying out in great detail how they attempted to influence the 2016 election in his favor against Hillary Clinton through social media. "No collusion," he keeps saying. We'll see about that.

In another Tweet, Trump today blamed Democrats for failing to address gun control during the eight years President Obama was in office.

He attempted to divert any blame by gloating that the opposition party couldn't pass any gun laws while accusing Democrats of using the issue as a political talking point.

'Just like they don't want to solve the DACA problem, why didn't the Democrats pass gun control legislation when they had both the House & Senate during the Obama Administration,' he wrote. 'Because they didn't want to, and now they just talk!'

Once again, the Diverter in Chief is at work.

If he blames Democrats for not acting on gun control or DACA when they controlled the White House and Congress, what's his excuse for the Republicans' failure to act?

Does he forget that it was he -- Trump -- who cancelled DACA protections for those young people?

And, could the National Rifle Association and all of their gazillions in political contributions have anything at all to do with the Republicans' failure to enact sensible gun restrictions?

By the way, students are rising up demanding change. If you support their effort, spread this hashtag far and wide: #neveragain
