Robbing the Disaster Budget to Finance ICE

This makes me freaking livid.

According to budget documents revealed by MSNBC, the Trump Administration has transferred $10 million in disaster relief money from the Federal Emergency Management Administration (FEMA) to support immigration enforcement at the U.S. Immigration and Custom Enforcement (ICE) agency.

That happened in June, but was just discovered by Sen. Jeff Merkley, D-Ore., who shared the documents live on MSNBC late Tuesday.

And that, of course, was only days ahead of expected landfall of what is expected to be a hurricane of historic proportions that will ram into the Carolina coast beginning tomorrow evening.

Today, Trump administration apologists poopooed the transfer, saying it was routine and would not in any way affect FEMA's response to Florence.

The funds transfer disclosure also came just as our esteemed president was bragging about the administration's preparedness for Florence, also saying that FEMA's response to Hurricane Maria, which cost nearly 3,000 lives in Puerto Rico, was an "unsung success."

Apparently Trump hasn't seen the survey showing that the vast majority of Puerto Ricans say the government's response -- and Trump's -- to that devastating hurricane was a dismal failure.

I guess Trump's show of support by tossing rolls of paper towels to Maria's victims didn't exactly impress them.

So, FEMA, if you have to make some cuts because Trump shifted that $10 million to ICE, just reduce the amount of paper towels set aside for Trump to toss out to those of us who have to deal with Hurricane Florence's aftermath.

Here's my message to Trump: Please stay the hell out of here, and keep your damned paper towels.
