'Blue Skies' at Old Woman Creek

For a break against all of the drama that we confront every day, I'm proud to present this beautiful video created by Not Fake News member Kit Dietz, a talented nature photographer and musician whose real job is that of a strategic advisor to chief executives.

To Willie Nelson's "Blue Skies", Kit matches stunning photos of wildlife that he captured on a sunny afternoon at the Old Woman Creek Nature Preserve near his home in Erie County, PA.

One of Ohio's best remaining examples of a natural estuary, Old Woman Creek is a field laboratory where scientists can study this naturally functioning system and a place where visitors can learn about estuarine ecology in a natural setting.

Separating the estuary from Lake Erie, the wind-swept barrier beach is a dynamic environment, continually being altered by pounding waves and shifting sand. Although harsh and unstable, the beach habitat is always beautiful. Shorebirds and migratory waterfowl are common visitors.

Old Woman Creek State Nature Preserve features a variety of aquatic and terrestrial habitats: marshlands, open water, a barrier sand beach, upland forests and old crop fields in early plant succession.

All of the images in this magnificent video were shot by Kit, who also produced the video. I am grateful to have Kit's permission to share it with you.
