Three more days until we know whether sanity will return to our nation, or whether we face four more years of scary craziness with a second term of Donald J. Trump.
Former Trump Communications Director Anthony Scaramucci early this morning tweeted, "In 3 days the Useful Idiot will no longer be useful."
In Berlin, the European wax museum, Madam Tussauds, is betting that's exactly what will happen. They've already wheeled Trump's wax figure off their show floor to clear things out ahead of Election Day.
"Today’s activity is rather of a symbolic character ahead of the elections in the United States," said museum marketing manager Orkide Yalcindag in a statement to Reuters. He added, "we here at Madame Tussauds Berlin removed Donald Trump’s waxwork as a preparatory measure."
A large sign that read "Dump Trump Make America Great Again" was affixed to the trash bin, and employees placed a red MAGA hat among the trash bags.
Desperation
Meanwhile, Trump seems to be becoming increasingly desperate, apparently worried that his presidency will end in that symbolic trash bin when all of the votes are finally counted sometime after the polls close Tuesday night.
Today's Trump tweet storm is just an example:
"Biden and the Radical Left are asking for the largest tax hike in the history of the U.S. Remember that when you VOTE!" said one.
"I paid many millions of dollars in Taxes to the Federal Government, most of which was even paid early, or PREPAID. MANY MILLIONS. The Failing @nytimes never likes reporting that!" said another.
"Joe Biden will PACK THE COURT. Also, he never gave the answer who his Radical Left Justices will be!", said a third.
And then, "Suburban Women are trending strongly to our campaign because they want SAFETY, SECURITY, and love the fact that I terminated the REGULATION that would destroy their neighborhood and with it, the American Dream. Biden would bring the REGULATION back in a MUCH stronger form!!!"
Late this morning, "Gallup: 56% of the U.S. is more satisfied with conditions now, even during a pandemic (we are rounding the turn!), than they were 4 years ago under Obama/Biden. Hasn't been equaled in recent times!"
GOP Tricks, No Treat
However, with the national the battleground state polls, putting Biden well ahead of Trump, Republicans are preparing for the worst and are focusing their strategy on challenging individual ballots in Democratic areas, targeting Black, Hispanic and younger voters, and relying on Trump-appointed judges to do their bidding.
In a special report published today, The Washington Post reported that nearly three out of four opinions issued in voting-related cases by federal judges nominated by Trump favored maintaining restrictions, while judges nominated by President Barack Obama backed such limits 17 percent of the time.
Thus, Trump's ability to stack the lower courts over the course of his presidency may be paying off and could play a major role post-election if the results are at all close. And then, of course, he's succeeded in adding a new conservative justice, Amy Coney Barrett, to the U.S. Supreme Court, perhaps as his ultimate ace-in-the-hole if court challenges get that far.
So will our nation return to sanity after the votes are counted?
