An old-time political rally featuring four Democratic presidential candidates took place outside a convenience store in rural South Carolina, with everything from a Dixieland band to chicken bog on the menu.
It was the 143rd edition of the Galivants Ferry Stump, but was the first time that presidential candidates attended, and it attracted probably 2,000 or so Democrats, supporters, and curiosity seekers who baked in the afternoon sun waiting for the speeches to begin at 5 p.m.
The Stump featured former Vice President Joe Biden, South Bend, IN Mayor Pete Buttigieg, Sen. Amy Klobuchar of Minnesota, and New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio. My apologies to the people of South Bend -- I inadvertently identified Buttigieg as being mayor of Fort Wayne in the above video.
At any rate, if you're interested in seeing some of the sights and sounds from the Stump, check out the video that I produced for the Horry County, SC, Democratic Party entirely using cellphone footage.
