Donald Trump says he is "saving the world". Now it is a common thing for politicians to suffer from bouts of oversized ego and delusions of grandeur, but this is a little much.
If anything, Donald Trump is ruining the world.
When did he say he was saving the world, you ask? Well, it was during his news conference Wednesday when he was asked why he supported a Republican Congressional candidate who is a disciple of the weird cultist group QAnon.
Trump said he appreciated support of Qanon followers, saying they are "people that love our country."
Actually, the FBI has identified the group as a potential domestic terrorist threat and the candidate Trump applauded, Laura Loomer, has been kicked off of Facebook and Twitter for hate speech, anti-Muslim comments and disseminating misinformation.
Among its unfounded conspiracy theories, Qanon claims Trump is saving the world from Democrats who are pedophiles and cannibals.
When Trump was asked about that, he responded:
"I haven’t heard that. Is that supposed to be a bad thing or a good thing? If I can help save the world from problems, I am willing to do it. I’m willing to put myself out there. And we are actually, we’re saving the world from a radical left philosophy...”
Well, his Democratic opponent, Joe Biden, was not asleep at the switch on this one.
He blasted Trump for trying “to legitimize a conspiracy theory that the FBI has identified as a domestic terrorism threat. Our country needs leadership that will bring us together more than ever to form a more perfect union. We have to win this battle for the soul of our nation.”
So, Trump is "saving the world." How is he doing that?
By supporting white supremacists and their goals and objectives, while sending federal forces to bludgeon lawful demonstrators protesting his racist policies that have resulted in deaths of innocent people of color? So he could have a phony photo op?
By ignoring the threat of the coronavirus, poopooing its implications, refusing to develop a comprehensive plan to attack it causing the U.S. to lead the world by far in Covid 19 cases and deaths?
By cozying up to Vladimir Putin, the architect of the Russian attack on the 2016 elections?
By welcoming "love letters" from the nutcase dictator of North Korea?
By belittling the threat of climate change, withdrawing from the Paris Climate Accord, and wiping out Obama-era environmental protections?
By enacting a massive tax cut for the wealthy and big business that sent the federal deficit it into the stratosphere?
By his unending attack on the Affordable Care Act, even in the midst of this horrific pandemic that has resulted in more than 5.5 million people in the U.S. being stricken by the virus?
By colluding with a foreign power, Ukraine, to attack Joe Biden, resulting in impeachment by the House of Representatives?
So, Trump says he is "saving the world from a radical left philosophy." Actually, he is imposing "radical right" philosophies and actions that are devastating our country and our standing in the world, as so many of his actions have worldwide implications. As a result, people here at home are suffering and paying the price.
It is time to get this unbalanced egomaniac out of OUR White House.
