Pic of the Week: "Slider," the Bat Retrieving Dog

This week's Pic of the Week is of "Slider," the yellow lab that retrieves the bats of Myrtle Beach Pelicans hitters after they are tossed aside as they run to first base. The Pelicans are a Class A-Advanced affiliate of the Chicago Cubs and play in the Southern Division of the Carolina League.

The pic was taken by Jackie Cristiano, of Myrtle Beach, SC, during a game against the Potomac Nationals last Wednesday.

"That dog is amazing," Jackie said. "He's more efficient than a lot of regular bat boys that I've seen at games and he's fun to watch. What a smart puppy!"

"Slider" clearly is a fan favorite, as every time he retrieved a bat he was greeted with huge cheers. In fact, for much of the game, a 3-0 Pelicans victory over the Nationals, there wasn't a lot to cheer about as most of the scoring came in the later innings.

Jackie's pic was selected in stiff competition with several great images submitted by Not Fake News readers. Those pics remain in contention for publication in future weeks.

If you would like your pic to be considered, please email to info@notfakenews.biz.
