Special Envoy Donald Drumpf?

A right wing wacko South Carolina politician who's trying to ride his pandering of Donald Trump into the hallowed halls of Congress has called on President Biden to appoint defeated and discredited former president Donald Trump (aka Drumpf) as a special envoy to handle the Afghanistan situation.

The guy's name is Russell Fry. He's a SC state representative who is challenging Rep. Tom Rice (R-SC-7) in the Republican primary. He's going after the pretty much do-nothing Congressman because he had pangs of conscience and voted to impeach Trump for inciting the January 6th insurrection at the Capitol.

Rice represents the heretofore ruby red district that includes Myrtle Beach and its environs as well as rural areas to the west, and until his impeachment vote, was about as loyal to Trump as any politician could possibly be. But his impeachment vote has overshadowed all of that and made him vulnerable to being primaried.

Like other opportunistic GOP politicians, Fry is using the tragic loss of lives in the Afghanistan airport bombing and the difficult and dangerous U.S. withdrawal from that 20-year war to whack Biden and use the fiasco for his own political advantage.

Fry is one of several right-wing GOP pols who are challenging Rice, who just the other day called on Biden to resign and appoint somebody who can actually handle the job.

“President Biden, you yourself said ‘The Buck stops here.’ Do the American people a favor. Resign and turn the job over to someone who can handle it,” said Rice.

Rice got local headlines for that little quip as he sought to mend fences with the thousands of Trump supporters who will decide his fate in the GOP primary. So, Fry, needing to one-up the incumbent congressman, grabbed his own share of headlines for suggesting that Biden should deploy Trump to get us out of this mess.

“For the sake of our countrymen in harm’s way, it’s time for Biden to live up to his own words of bipartisanship and turn to trusted hands who know how to get the job done,” Fry said on Facebook. “I call on Joe Biden to set aside political differences and, in a spirit of true bipartisan cooperation, appoint Donald J. Trump as his special envoy to oversee the Afghanistan withdrawal.”

Right. Bipartisan cooperation. The Republicans are a great example of that.

Instead of coming together in the best interests of our country, they are crawling all over Biden like roaches on peanut butter. Even Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC), who served in the Senate with Biden for years and supposedly was his friend, said the president should be impeached because of his handling of the Afghanistan withdrawal -- which Trump initiated.

“This is dereliction of duty by the commander-in-chief,” Graham (R-SC) told Fox News’ Sean Hannity.

Talk about dereliction of duty! Donald Trump cut the deal that set the stage for the withdrawal. Don't get me started. Dereliction of duty! Trump was the epitome of that charge!

Back to Graham.

We all know how loyal Graham is to his friends, witness his love affair with Trump after the death of Trump's nemesis, Sen. John McCain, to whom Graham was supposed to be so close. As soon as he read the political tea leaves, he began kissing Trump's behind, even after calling him such things as a "race-baiting, xenophobic religious bigot" when he was trying to win the GOP presidential nomination.

"You know how you make America great again?" Graham said then. "Tell Donald Trump to go to hell."

Now, it's politically expedient, so he's changed his tune. Carry your golf bags, Mr. President? Certainly! Oh, you're in the rough? Let me fix that. What else can I do for you, Mr. President?"

Back to Russel Fry's preposterous idea that Biden put Trump in charge of the Afghanistan pullout. One of my friends here in South Carolina wrote the following in an email to me, which prompted this blog:

"The freaking ass was the one who started this whole fiasco that Biden had to finish. But wait a minute, if he was sent there, maybe he wouldn't come back. He might become their supreme leader -- likes giving strict orders, flys off the handle, and would love to hang people. Afghanistan is the perfect country for a misogynist. Oops, foolish me, I guess there are no porn stars or Playboy Bunnies in Afghanistan. He would have a difficult time ripping off a woman's berka against her will. Just sayin'."

Great idea, Mr. Fry. Why don't you call Trump and tell him to go. He could take junior and the rest of the Trump crime family with him.

That would be perfect.
