Voters beware! We are in a political playing field where the opposition knows no boundaries in side-stepping reality. There comes a time when the truth is so obvious that all reasonable people must acknowledge it, yet still major players in the GOP remain reluctant to recognize reality.
Donald Trump appeared on Sean Hannity's show to discuss the ongoing federal investigation into the classified documents found in Trump's Mar-a-Lago home during an FBI raid. He told Hannity during that interview that he can declassify documents just by thinking about it.
That's incredible!
While Trump also believes he is always the smartest person in the room, many GOP Senators fail to acknowledge that the former president’s claims are preposterous. If you recall the story of The Emperor’s New Clothes,” the swindlers told the emperor that those who claimed he was naked were too stupid to see the fine garments.
How have GOP senators responded to questions about Trump’s claim?
Indiana Sen. Mike Braun (R-IN) said of Trump’s ability to declassify by thinking about it: “I think there’s prerogative on the part of the President to declassify. What the proper methodology is, I don’t know. I guess we’ll find out how.”
Good job of riding the fence.
There might be a breakthrough to reality in the form of Sen. John Brasso (R-WY). His first response to George Stephanopoulos, when asked about Trump’s claim, was that
But, when Stephanopoulos pressed further, Brasso finally admitted "I don't think a president can declassify documents by saying so—by thinking about it,"
When a United States Senator of either party must be pressed by a reporter to acknowledge the truth in something presented as outrageous as the former president’s claim, then it is time for a reality check.
Americans will go to the polls in November and prove that fabrications to this degree are unacceptable.
Maya Angelou, poet and civil rights activist, is quoted on the issue of character: “When people show you who they are, believe them the first time.”
Many might have believed who Trump is when he mocked the disabled reporter at one of his rallies. The reporter, Serge Kovalsk,i has a congenital condition that affects his joint movement.
Or, maybe there are those who cut ties with the former president when he refused to honor John McCain as a Viet Nam war hero who was captured by saying, “I only like heroes who don’t get captured.”
Many Americans are astounded at what appears to be a duel reality between what Democrats and Republicans see about Trump. His behavior throughout his presidency has shown a serious lack of judgement in the way he presents himself.
The reason he lost the election in 2020 was because most voters did believe him when he showed who he was the first time. The GOP senators should take note that the majority of Americans do see reality, and they are voting accordingly.
It’s time to call it what it is.
