What a Hypocrite!

Updated: Mar 30, 2022

Sen. Mitch McConnell
Sen. Mitch McConnell, the political definition of a hypocrite.

Surprise! Senator Mitch McConnell just announced he won’t be supporting Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson's Supreme Court nomination.

Listen to the article:

"After studying the nominee's record and watching her performance this week, I cannot and will not support Judge Jackson for a lifetime appointment to the Supreme Court," McConnell said.

But, here’s the quote that has me gagging to the point of regurgitation:

"It's a recipe for courts to wander into policy making and prevent healthy Democratic compromise. This is the misunderstanding of the separation of powers that I've spent my entire career fighting against . . .”

Really Mitch? A misunderstanding of the separation of powers? What could be a greater misunderstanding of those powers than your denial of a hearing or vote to President Obama’s choice (Merrick Garland) with one full year left in his presidency?

What could be more hypocritical than to rush another, Amy Coney Bryant’s lame duck nomination, through the very same process with only a month left in Trump’s term? Is this you fighting against some misunderstanding of the separation of powers?

Sen. Dick Durbin correctly called McConnell out on his hypocrisy, referring to him as the only senator "who has had a direct impact on the composition of the United States Supreme Court in modern memory."

Through political manipulation and blatant breaches of historical protocol, McConnell created a 6-3 conservative majority on the high court. Judge Jackson is replacing a justice who shares her progressive ideology—no change in ideological balance. Amy Coney Barrett replaced her polar opposite, Ruth Bader Ginsberg. Apparently, a 6-3 majority isn’t enough for this dangerous demogogue.

If you ever needed a reason to vote in the mid-term elections to maintain the current congressional balance of power, think of two people, as you go to the polls: The hypocrite, Mitch McConnell, and the narcissist, insurrectionist, would be dictator, Donald Trump.

Do we want these people appointing SCOTUS Justices in the future? Enough said.
