'No one...is Above the Law'

In Washington, today, House Democrats unveiled two articles of impeachment against President Trump, charging that he abused the power of the presidency by trying to force a foreign government to investigate a political rival, and then tried to obstruct the investigation by Congress.

So it will come down to those two narrow charges: abuse of power and obstruction of Congress when the impeachment vote reaches the full House of Representatives later this month.

Said House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerrold Nadler (D-NY), "We must be clear: No one, not even the president, is above the law."

That says it all in a nutshell.

"WITCH HUNT!" Trump tweeted. As usual.

However, if you disagree and want to have your say, here's a link from the Action Network, where you can tell your Congressman what to do when the vote is called.

While that was happening, Trump tried to rewrite the Justice Department inspector general's report that rebutted his and other rightwing nutcase claims that top FBI officials who hated him illegally spied on his advisors during the investigation of Russia's interference in the 2016 election.

His own FBI director, Christopher Wray, told ABC yesterday that the inspector general "did not find political bias or improper motivations impacting the opening of the investigation or the decision to use certain investigative tools during the investigations."

"I don't know what report the current Director of the FBI Christopher Wray was reading, but it sure wasn't the one given to me," tweeted Trump. "With that kind of attitude, he will never be able to fix the FBI, which is badly broken despite having some of the greatest men & women working there!"

And, Trump's other personal attorney, Attorney General William Barr, discarded a key finding of the report saying the FBI may have acted in "bad faith" in that investigation.

"I think our nation was turned on its head for three years, I think, based on a completely bogus narrative that was largely fanned and hyped by an irresponsible press, and I think that there were gross abuses of FISA and inexplicable behavior that isn't tolerable in the FBI," Barr told NBC News.

Yes. That was Trump's Personal attorney No. 2. Rudy Giuliani, he of Ukraine fame, of course, is Number One.

Trump also found time to welcome to the White House this afternoon Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, who had a scheduled meeting with his counterpart, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, to discuss US-Russia relations.

That's interesting. Wonder if plans to rig the 2020 election came up (assuming Trump makes it that far.)

Tonight, Trump concludes this momentous day with one of his patented rallies, this one in Hershey, PA. There, Trump fans, some of whom reportedly began lining up in the cold as early as 4 a.m., called the impeachment inquiry "a sham," "a joke" and a "disgrace to the nation."

Odd. They must have been hearing me talking about Trump and stole my words.
