Eating the Evidence

President Trump, after a session in the White House tanning bed, prepares to eat some evidence

The image of the would be emperor of the world sitting behind the Resolute Desk in the Oval Office cramming a piece of paper into his mouth, presumably to hide damaging information, is simply more than can be imagined.

Frankly, if I was to write a novel with President Trump as the villain, I would never think to include such a scene. Who would think up something like that? My imagination is not that good.

But that's exactly what former White House aide Omarosa Manigault-Newman claims she witnessed one day during her brief tenure as the top African American White House adviser. The claim is made in her upcoming book, Unhinged: An Insider Account of the Trump White House, according to an excerpt obtained by The Washington Post.

"I saw him put a note in his mouth. Since Trump was ever the germaphobe, I was shocked he appeared to be chewing and swallowing the paper. It must have been something very, very sensitive,” Newman writes.

Of course, the image of that brings to mind movie scenes where mobsters cram incriminating evidence into their mouths or drug dealers do the same as the cops move in.

But the President of the United States? The idea of the man who apparently fantasizes about being the emperor of the world sitting behind the Resolute Desk doing such a thing is simply too much to contemplate.

If it's true, though, how would you ever prove it? Do you think Bob Mueller will try?

I don't want to even go there.
