Announcing 'Lean to the Left' Podcast

Updated: Aug 7, 2021

With more than 350 episodes now streaming online, the NFN Radio News podcast is getting a new name to help better identify exactly what we're about. The new name: "Lean to the Left".

Listen to the article:

When I launched NFN Radio News several months ago, my plan was to simply provide narrations of Not Fake News articles for the convenience of those who prefer to listen rather than read while they are relaxing or multitasking, which so many of us do in our busy lives.

Then, after suggestions by listeners, I decided to expand the podcast's content to include interviews with newsmakers, experts, and people with interesting stories to tell. Those interviews have proven to be popular, and they have allowed me to return to my communications roots as a reporter, which I love. I thoroughly enjoy talking with interesting, smart people who have something meaningful to say and who can help us understand the important issues of our times.

As I narrated these podcasts, I often used the phrase, "...with a little lean to the left" in closing remarks to describe our approach to politics and social issues. Again, upon the advice of listeners, I decided to rebrand the entire show. And so, "Lean to the Left" was born.

August 9, Premier Episode

Our interview shows on Lean to the Left are scheduled to stream every Monday, and the premier episode on August 9 will challenge the claim by many Republicans in Congress -- and elsewhere -- that "Uncle Joe" -- President Biden -- and his policies are responsible for recent increases in gasoline prices.

For solid, fact-based answers, we went to Jack Kerfoot, an energy expert who we previously interviewed on NFN Radio News on the topic of renewable energy. Kerfoot is a scientist, energy expert and author of "FUELING AMERICA: An Insider's Journey." He is the principal at JL Energy Services and blogs on his website, Our Energy Conundrum, at www.jackkerfoot.com.

What does Kerfoot have to say about the Republican attempt to blame Biden for the gas price increases? In short, he calls BS on those claims and backs it up with the facts.

The August Lineup

August 16 -- Sex Abuse in the Catholic Church -- Interview with Minneapolis attorney Michael Bryant, who has represented clients in a number of sex abuse cases against the Catholic Church. In this remarkable interview, Bryant discloses how local dioceses are using every trick in the book to protect priests accused of sexual abuse and are resorting to bankruptcy to avoid or minimize damage payments to their victims.

Guest host on this episode is Mark M. Bello, the attorney/author of Betrayal of Faith, which was based on a case in which he represented clients who were victims of such abuse. A contributor to Not Fake News, Bello has just launched a new podcast, "Justice Counts", where this interview also will stream beginning Aug. 16.

August 23 -- Climate Change -- Interview with expert guest to discuss ongoing developments regarding climate change, and implications for the future. Co-host will be former NJ Congressman and Governor Jim Florio.

August 30 -- Patriotic Millionaires -- Interview with Morris Pearl, chair of Patriotic Millionaires, a group of wealthy Americans who are committed to making all Americans better off by building a more prosperous, stable, and inclusive nation. The group focuses on promoting public policy solutions that encourage political equality, guarantee a sustaining wage for working Americans, and ensure that millionaires, billionaires, and corporations pay their fair share of taxes. That should be a fascinating discussion.

I hope you will check out and "like" "Lean to the Left" and become a regular listener. While our episodes will be summarized on Not Fake News, you'll need to listen to get the complete story. Just click on the Podcast tab at the top of this page to get started.
